Located in Manhattan, New York City, Columbia University frequently ranks among the top 10 universities in the United States. Columbia has a chapter of of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society, and it is a member of the Association of American Universities. Columbia is one of the eight universities that make up the Ivy League. The school has a bustling urban campus and extensive graduate programs.

Columbia : comprehensively excellent !

Columbia University in City of New York (formely King's college) ranks among the world's top 10 universities. It has students from all the 50 states and more than 150 countries, with more than 250,000 living alumni in 180 countries. Columbia is associated with more than 80 Nobel laureates (alumni, faculty researchers). Columbia is especially strong in the natural sciences of Physics, Chemistry, life and biomedical sciences. It is a "complete" university with a liberal arts college, and all the major professional fields represented (Law, Medicine, Engineering, Education, Business, Architecture). It also has a reknown school of journalism, and awards the Pulitzer prize. It is the first US University to award the MD degree in 1767. It is a most selective university and ivy league school with less than 10% undergraduate admission rate. Columbia's endowment is comparatively low ($7.5 billion compared to Harvard's $35 billion). Housing is a problem for graduate students at Columbia.
