Niagara University

Niagara is a wonderful small, Catholic university in Western New York. Locally renowned for its Business and Nursing programs. Founded by the Vincentians in the 1800s, the importance of a strong moral code and responsibility for stewardship is stressed in all aspects of the curriculum. St Vincent De Paul's legacy lives on. I recieved my undergraduate degree at Duquesne, and it was a wonderful experience. The university embraced and encouraged both intellectual and the spirtual side that lies in all of us. Also, it is the only Catholic Universtiy that I know of that has has a branch campus next to the Vatican, in Rome Italy. Great University and I feel blessed to of had the opportunity to attend and graduate from there. GO DUKES!

Marymount Virginia

Where does Marymount Univeristy rank in all of this. Is it considered a good school? [from Allen Grove: Great question. Marymount University did not make my list of Top Catholic Universities largely because the retention and 4 and 6 year graduation rates are lower than the schools I did choose. That said, Marymount has a somewhat lower student profile (test scores, GPA, etc) than the schools on the list, so we would expect the graduation rate to be lower than a place like Notre Dame or Boston College where a higher percentage of students are well prepared for college-level work. But back to your question--absolutely Marymount is a good school. Marymount has strong professional programs, a great location, and good financial aid.]

The top schools are clear

In considering, objectively, the best of the 200 schools of Catholic affiliation, US News and World Report the top Catholic schools. In the top class of Major Research Universities, the top 4 order is: Notre Dame, Georgetown, Boston College and Fordham. Other schools in the top 100 include Santa Clara, Marquette, Seattle, Loyola. In local, regional categories schools like Holy Cross, Villanova, St. John's (Minn.) get top marks. Each school has its own character and offers a fine education, so for each proud graduate, their school was "the best"

Nursing at Duquesne

I got my undergraduate nursing degree at Duquesne, and it was a great program. The location right in Pittsburgh meant that it was easy to complete all the required clinical hours, and I had lots of inspiring professors. Go Dukes!
