You'll find that average ACT scores for Vermont colleges vary widely. Middlebury College is one of the country's most selective colleges, while many of the schools below accept the majority of applicants. You'll also find a few excellent colleges with test-optional admissions. The side-by-side comparison chart below shows ACT scores for the middle 50% of enrolled students. If your scores fall within or above these ranges, you're on target for admission. Keep in mind that 25% of enrolled students have scores below those listed.

Note that while the SAT tends to be the most widely used entrance exam in Vermont, all the schools listed below will be happy to take ACT scores instead of the SAT.

Remember that ACT scores are just one part of the application. The admissions officers in Vermont, especially at the top Vermont colleges, will also want to see a strong academic record, a winning essay, meaningful extracurricular activities and good letters of recommendation.
