Although Arizona has a lot of square miles, it does not have a lot of four-year non-profit colleges and universities. Arizona State and the University of Arizona, however, are a couple of the larger public universities in the U.S. You'll also find a few options for smaller colleges. The table below can tell you if your ACT scores are on target for getting in. If you ACT scores fall within or above the ranges listend below, you're right on track.

Admissions standards vary significantly from Dine, a Native American tribal college with open admissions, to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott where most applicants have above-average test scores. Note that no Arizona colleges have overly selective admissions. The scores in the table above are for the middle 50% of enrolled students. If your scores fall within or above these ranges, you're on target for admission to one of these Arizona colleges. If your scores are slightly below the range presented in the table, don't lose all hope -- remember that 25% of enrolled students have ACT scores below those listed.

Also remember that ACT scores are just one part of the application. These Arizona colleges will also want to see a strong academic record, and some will be looking for a winning essay, meaningful extracurricular activities and good letters of recommendation. In some cases, students with lower scores (but otherwise strong applications) could be admitted, while students with higher scores (but weaker applications) may be rejected.

Note that both the SAT and ACT are popular in Arizona with just a slight preference for the SAT. Both tests are accepted at all of the colleges listed above. If you want to see how your ACT scores measure up to SAT scores, use this SAT-ACT conversion table.

Some schools also have an GPA-SAT-ACT graph that shows how other applicants fared, and what their grades/test scores were.
