University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Description:

The University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh is one of the 13 four-year universities that make up the University of Wisconsin System. The 170-acre campus sits along the Fox River between Lake Winnebago and Lake Butte des Morts. The school first opened its doors in 1872 to train teachers, and today it is a master's-level university that offers 57 undergraduate majors in a wide range of disciplines. Teaching remains popular, but the university has broad strengths in the sciences, social sciences, humanities and professional fields. Academics are supported by a 21 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Co-curricular activities abound with more than 160 student organizations. The Model United Nations Program and Advance-Titan student newspaper both have impressive award-winning histories. On the athletic front, the UW-Oshkosh Titans compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The universities fields 10 men's and 11 women's Division III sports. The athletic fields are located across the Fox River, about a mile from the main campus.
