The University of Southern California was founded in 1880, making it California's oldest private university. With over 38,000 students currently enrolled, it is also one of the largest private universities in the country.

USC is located in the heart of Los Angeles's Downtown Arts and Education Corridor in an enclosed campus known as University Park. USC's school colors are cardinal and gold, and its mascot is a Trojan.

USC is home to many colleges and divisions of study: Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, Leventhal School of Accounting, School of Architecture, Marshall School of Business, School of Cinematic Arts, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry, Rossier School of Education, Viterbi School of Engineering, Roski School of Fine Arts, Davis School of Gerontology, Gould School of Law, Keck School of Medicine, Thornton School of Music, Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, School of Pharmacy, Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, Sol Price School of Public Policy, and School of Social Work.

While the university is widely known for its academics, the USC Trojan athletic programs are equally celebrated. Trojans compete in the NCAA Division I Pacific-12 Conference and have won 92 NCAA national championships. The USC football team has won more Rosebowls and has had more 1st round NFL draft picks than any other college team.
