With its clock tower rising above the central quad of the SUNY Potsdam campus, Satterlee Hall is one of the school's iconic buildings. Completed in 1954, the building is named after Dr. O. Ward Satterlee, SUNY Potsdam's first Dean of Education.

The building houses many of SUNY Potsdam's education departments as well as offices for History, Literacy, Politics, Sociology and Theatre and Dance. Some of Potsdam's strongest and most popular programs are in education.

SUNY Potsdam - Crane Music Center

Completed in 1973, The Crane Music Center is made up of four buildings that house SUNY Potsdam's nationally-renowned Crane School of Music. The center includes a concert hall, music theater, library, classrooms and numerous studios and labs. Music and the arts are central to SUNY Potsdam's identity, and Music Education is one of the strongest and most popular majors offered at the university.

Standing amidst flowers, walkways and benches, SUNY Potsdam's statue of Minerva is not a unique piece of artwork. Many of the early teacher training colleges in New York used the goddess of wisdom and protection as an appropriate symbol for the education of new teachers. The Crumb Memorial Library at SUNY Potsdam has a prominent location in the center of the school's academic quad. The Crumb Library is Potsdam's main library, and it houses collections that support all of the college's Bachelor of Arts programs. Any work not found in the Crumb or Crane libraries can be requested through SUNY Potsdam's interlibrary loan system. Students will also find computer workstations, wireless access and printing facilities in Crumb Library.

Merritt Hall is one of SUNY Potsdam's many ivy-covered buildings. The school takes pride in its ivy, and one of the online promotional videos compares its buildings to Chia Pets that grow while students grow.

Merritt Hall is home to numerous offices as well as a swimming pool and gymnasium. Other athletic facilities are located in Maxcy Hall. In athletics, the Potsdam Bears compete in the NCAA Division III SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Music and the performing arts are great strengths of SUNY Potsdam, and the Sara M. Snell Music Theater is one of the university's main performance spaces. The Snell Theater is one of the four buildings that make up the Crane Music Center. The theater seats 452. The larger Hosmer Concert Hall seats 1290.

When the weather turns warm at SUNY Potsdam, professors will sometimes take their classes outside. Any grassy spot can do, but the university has constructed some outdoor classroom spaces (such as the one pictured here) specifically for the purpose.

SUNY Potsdam's campus has lots of green spaces and even some outdoor classrooms. This picture shows the walkway through the main academic quad. When classes are in session, this walkway is bustling with students.

The largest performance space at SUNY Potsdam is the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall with its 1,290 seats. Potsdam has one of the strongest music and music education programs in the country, and the Hosmer Concert Hall is one of the four main buildings that make up the Crane Music Center.
