Located in Canyon, Texas, West Texas A&M University is a member school of the Texas A&M University System. The 176-acre wooded campus has a hospitable small-town environment while offering easy access to more metropolitan areas. Amarillo is just 15 miles to the north. The campus houses a Texas history museum, the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. West Texas A&M has a 20 to 1 student faculty ratio and offers 61 undergraduate degrees, 45 master’s programs and a doctorate in agriculture. For undergraduates, the most popular areas of study are interdisciplinary and general studies, nursing, sport and exercise science and biology. Popular graduate degrees include business administration, educational diagnostics and accounting. Beyond academics, student life is active on campus with over 100 clubs and organizations. The West Texas A&M Buffaloes compete in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference. The university fields seven men's and eight women's intercollegiate sports.
