Located on a 128-acre campus in the small city of Utica, New York, Utica College is a comprehensive private institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees (the school would more accurately be called a university than a college). Students can choose from 37 majors, 27 minors, and 21 graduate programs. At the undergraduate level, programs in health and criminal justice fields are most popular. Academics are supported by a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio and a typical class size of 20. Student life is active and includes numerous clubs and organizations including fraternities and sororities. Sports are popular at Utica College, and the university fields 11 men's and 12 women's varsity sports. The Utica Pioneers compete in the NCAA Division III Empire 8 Athletic Conference for most sports. The college also has a range of intramural and club sports.
