University of Wisconsin-Stout Description:

The University of Wisconsin-Stout is a public university located on a 131-acre campus in Menomonie, Wisconsin. The St. Paul/Minneapolis metropolitan area is about an hour to the west, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is about half an hour to the east. UW-Stout students come from 45 states and 38 countries. UW-Stout has a unique identity among the members of the University of Wisconsin System: the school began in 1891 when James Huff Stout opened the Stout Manual Training School. Stout has kept its professional focus to this day and is now designated "Wisconsin's Polytechnic University." Academic strengths include fields in business, management, technology, and applied arts. Students can choose from 40 majors and 54 minors. Academics are supported by a 20 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Student life is active with more than 140 clubs and organizations. In athletics, the UW-Stout Blue Devils compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) for most sports. The university fields seven men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports.
