University of Wisconsin-Platteville Description:

UW-Platteville is one of the 13 comprehensive universities in the University of Wisconsin System. The university was founded in 1866, making it the oldest public university in Wisconsin. Platteville is a small town in the southwest corner of the state; Dubuque Iowa is less than half an hour away. Professional fields in business, agriculture, education, engineering and technology are most popular with UW-Platteville undergraduates. Academics are supported by a 22 to 1 student / faculty ratio. On the student life front, the university gives students a choice of over 170 clubs and organizations including fraternities and sororities. For students interested in athletics, the UW-Platteville Pioneers compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) for most sports. The university fields seven men's and eight women's intercollegiate sports.
