University of West Georgia Description:

Established in 1906, the University of West Georgia is a comprehensive university located in Carrollton, Georgia. Carrollton, with a population of around 25,000 is about 50 miles west of downtown Atlanta. Undergraduates have 59 programs from which to chose with preprofessional fields in nursing, education and business being some of the most popular. Students with strong GPAs, SAT scores or ACT scores should look into the Honors College which offers a curriculum with more emphasis on research and student initiative. Academics are supported by a 21 to 1 student / faculty ratio. On the student life front, the University of West Georgia is home to over 100 student organizations including a substantial fraternity and sorority system. Students can also join performing arts ensembles, academic honor societies, recreational sports teams, and religious organizations. In athletics, the UWG Wolves compete in the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference. Popular sports include football, basketball, and track and field.
