Southen Miss, the University of Southern Mississippi, is a public university located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Southern Miss wins high marks for its Center for International Education that organizes study abroad opportunities for a large number of students. The summer program in London is particularly noteworthy. On the academic front, the university has well-regarded programs in polymer science, education and music. High achieving students should check out the university's Honors College. Outside of the classroom, Southern Miss offers a range of activities and clubs, from arts to athletics to academic clubs to community service work. In athletics, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles compete in the NCAA Division I Conference USA.
