The University of New Haven is a private university located on an 82-acre campus in West Haven, Connecticut. New Haven and Long Island Sound beaches are just minutes away. Undergraduates at the university can choose from nearly 100 degree programs, and the school has notable strengths in criminal justice, fire science and forensics. The university emphasizes hands-on experiential learning. Academics are supported by a 16 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Student life is active with over 100 student clubs and organizations and 70% of undergraduates living on campus or in university housing. In athletics, the UNH Chargers compete in the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference. The university fields eight men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports.
