SUNY Maritime College is a public maritime college with an acceptance rate of 72%. Established in 1874, SUNY Maritime was the first federally approved nautical instruction college in the United States. The 55-acre waterfront campus is located at historic Fort Schuyler at the junction of the East River and the Long Island Sound. The majority of students are members of the college’s Regiment of Cadets, a military-style physical and maritime training program.
