Southern Utah University Description:

Founded in 1897, Southern Utah University is a public university located in Cedar City, Utah. Outdoor lovers will find national parks and skiing nearby, and Las Vegas is just a two-and-a-half hour road-trip to the southwest. The university is made up of six schools and colleges. Majors in education, business, communications, biology and psychology are particularly popular with undergraduates. Academics are supported by a 19 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Student life is active with over 100 clubs and organizations, and visitors should check out the Utah Shakespearean Festival and Utah Summer Games. On the athletic front, the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds compete in the NCAA Division I Summit League for most sports. Women's gymnastics competes in the Western Athletic Conference and football competes in the Great West Conference.
