South Carolina State University Description:

Founded in 1896, South Carolina State is a public, historically black university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The university is committed to making education accessible, and the school frequently ranks highly for social mobility. Undergraduates can choose from over 50 majors with biology, business and family and consumer sciences being the most popular. The university is made up of three colleges, and the school takes pride in its small classes supported by a 17 to 1 student / faculty ratio. On the athletic front, the South Carolina State Bulldogs compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
