Savannah State University Description:

Founded in 1890, Savannah State University is a public university located on a picturesque 173-acre campus in Savannah, Georgia. Savannah State is the oldest historically Black university in Georgia. The school has an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and students can choose from 22 bachelor's degree programs. Social life is active with over 75 clubs and organizations including sororities, fraternities, and the popular Marching Tigers Band. In athletics, the Savannah State Tigers compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEACS). The school fields five men's and seven women's Division I sports.
