Students interested in applying to Salem College can use the Common Application (more on that below). Salem College is a private liberal arts college for women located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The college has the distinction of being the oldest educational institution for women in the country -- Salem can traces its roots back to the colonial period when the Moravians founded a school for girls in 1772. Today Salem is a highly regarded college with an impressive 11 to 1 student / faculty ratio and high placement rates for law and medical schools. The college also wins high marks for its value, and nearly all students receive significant grant aid. In athletics, the Salem Spirits compete in the NCAA Division III Great South Athletic Conference.
