Saint Xavier University Description:

Saint Xavier University is a private, Roman Catholic university located in Chicago, Illinois. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1846, it is Chicago’s oldest Catholic university. The main campus is situated on 109 scenic acres in southwest Chicago, at the heart of the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood. The campus has taken steps toward environmental sustainability, opening several eco-friendly dormitories and making efforts to utilize clean alternative energy sources. The university also has a satellite campus 25 miles southwest of Chicago in Orland Park, which houses its continuing and professional studies programs. On the academic front, Saint Xavier offers 43 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate programs. Popular areas of study include business administration, nursing, elementary education, biology and communication sciences and disorders. Campus life is active, with nearly 50 student-led academic, cultural, recreational and spiritual organizations. The Saint Xavier Cougars field 12 men’s and women’s athletic teams in the NAIA Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
