Admissions at Saint Peter's University are fairly open; in 2016, the school admitted around three-quarters of those who applied. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter's University is the only Jesuit college in New Jersey. The main campus is located in Jersey City, New Jersey, and a second campus in Englewood Cliffs caters to adult learners. The school has a 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and the average class size is 22 students. Saint Peter's University has a largely undergraduate focus, but the school also offers master's programs in business and education. Undergraduates can choose from more than 40 academic programs, and professional fields in business, nursing, and criminal justice are among the most popular. Students can choose from over 50 student-run clubs and organizations, while on the athletic front, the Saint Peter's Peacocks and Peahens compete in the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The university fields 19 Division I teams.
