Founded in 1912, Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a private, Catholic liberal arts college. Saint Joseph's 350-acre campus has an attractive location on the shore of Sebago Lake in Standish, Maine. Boston is just two hours to the south. Students can choose from 40 academic programs with nursing being most popular at the bachelor's level. Academics are supported by a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 17. The college takes pride in the close relationship between students and their professors. The college encourages hands-on learning experiences through internships and study abroad (Saint Joseph's students can choose from 240 institutions in about 40 countries). The college also has robust graduate and professional programs delivered online to students around the country and world. For residential students, Saint Joseph's has a wide range of student clubs and activities. In athletics, the Monks compete in the NCAA Division III North Atlantic Conference and Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The college fields seven men's and eight women's intercollegiate sports.
