Pacific University Description:

Founded in 1849 as a school for orphans from the Oregon Trail, Pacific University has undergone significant changes in its long history. Today Pacific has a liberal arts undergraduate college and professional graduate programs in education and health. The attractive 55-acre campus is located in Forest Grove, Oregon, about 25 miles west of Portland. Outdoor lovers will find hiking, skiing, camping, biking, kayaking and canoeing opportunities in the surrounding area. Students come from 30 states and 28 foreign countries. Undergraduates can choose from 36 fields of study with exercise science and dental hygiene being among the most popular. Academics at Pacific are supported by a 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 19. Social life is active with over 60 clubs including fraternities and sororities. In athletics, the Pacific University Boxer's compete in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference for 21 sports.
