Otis College of Art and Design is an independent school of art in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1918, it was the first professional art school in Southern California. The main campus is located in the Westchester neighborhood, near the Los Angeles International airport and Loyola Marymount University. Students benefit from personalized attention from faculty which the school supports with small class sizes and a student faculty ratio of just 7 to 1. Otis offers bachelor of fine arts degrees in architecture/landscape/interiors, communication arts, digital media, fashion design, fine arts, product design and toy design as well as master’s degrees in fine arts, graphic design, public practice and writing. Students can also pursue an interdisciplinary concentration, allowing them to focus in another area of art outside of their major. Beyond the classroom, students are actively involved in campus life, participating in a variety of clubs and activities including a gardening club and meditation group. The college does not participate in intercollegiate athletics.
