The University of North Georgia is a public university with an acceptance rate of 75%. Formed in 2013 by the merging of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University, the University of North Georgia is part of the University System of Georgia. This admissions data tells us that most of University of North Georgia's admitted students fall within the top 35% nationally on the SAT. For the evidence-based reading and writing section, 50% of students admitted to UNG scored between 535 and 640, while 25% scored below 535 and 25% scored above 640. On the math section, 50% of admitted students scored between 490 and 590, while 25% scored below 490 and 25% scored above 590. Applicants with a composite SAT score of 1230 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at the University of North Georgia.

Requirements

The University of North Georgia does not require the SAT essay section. Note that UNG participates in the scorechoice program, which means that the admissions office will consider your highest score from each individual section across all SAT test dates.

Admissions Chances

The University of North Georgia, which accepts three-quarters of applicants, has a somewhat selective admissions process. If your SAT/ACT scores and GPA fall within the school's minimum range, you have a strong chance of being accepted. The minimum requirements for admission are a high school GPA of 2.0, an ACT score of 20 for the English section and 18 for the math section, or an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score of 530 and a math score of 480.

UNG also requires that applicants have completed the rigorous high school curriculum specified for universities in the University System of Georgia: four Carnegie units of college preparatory English, math, and science, three Carnegie units of college preparatory social science, and two Carnegie units of the same foreign language, or 2 units of American Sign Language or computer science. UNG utilizes a freshmen index that combines applicants' GPA in required coursework with standardized test scores to determine eligibility for admission.

Applicants who do not meet the bachelor's degree admissions requirements will automatically be considered for admission to UNG's associate degree programs.  If admitted to an associate program, enrolled students may internally transfer to a bachelor's degree programs when eligible.
