Nicholls State University Description:
Founded in 1948, Nicholls State University is a public university on a 287-acre campus in Thibodaux, Louisiana, a small city a little over an hour from both Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The university is made up of five colleges plus the John Folse Culinary Institute and the graduate schools. Fields in business and health are particularly popular among undergraduates. The university has a 21 to 1 student / faculty ratio. For smaller classes and other perks, high achieving students should look into the University Honors Program at Nicholls. On the co-curricular front, students can choose from over 100 clubs and organizations including an active fraternity and sorority system. In athletics, the Nicholls State Colonels compete in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. The university fields six men's and eight women's Division I sports.
