Newman University is a private, Catholic university located in Wichita, Kansas, the largest city in the state. Along with traditional residential undergraduates, Newman University also caters to adult students. The university has evening and weekend courses, online classes, and teaching centers in Colorado, Oklahoma, and two other Kansas locations. 45% of students attend classes part-time. The university's curriculum has a liberal arts foundation, and professional fields in nursing and education are most popular among undergraduates. Academics at Newman are supported by a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Academics and student life are well integrated at Newman, and the university has more than 30 official academic clubs and organizations, interesting "learning communities" for new students, and a range of other co-curricular activities. On the athletic front, the Newman Jets compete in the NCAA Division II Heartland Conference. The university fields eight men's and eight women's intercollegiate teams.
