Newberry College Description:

Founded in 1856, Newberry College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. The 90-acre is located a short walk from downtown Newberry, South Carolina, a town of about 10,000 people. Columbia is about 45 minutes to the southeast, and Charlotte, North Carolina, is less than two hours away. Students can choose from 25 majors and 33 minors, and professional fields such as business, nursing, and communications are popular among students. Academics are supported by a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio. The college does well with financial aid, and most students receive some form of grant or scholarship aid. Newberry is a largely residential campus, and most students live in one of the six residence halls. Student life is active with over 50 clubs and organizations. Athletics are popular, and the college has extensive sports and fitness facilities. The Newberry Wolves compete in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference. The college fields eight men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports.
