Mount St. Mary's University, often referred to simply as "The Mount," is a private Catholic university located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, a town near the Pennsylvania border. Baltimore is less than an hour and a half to the southeast. The school builds its identity on four pillars -- faith, discovery, leadership, and community. The latter is supported by a 13 to 1 student faculty ratio and an average class size of 20. The curriculum is grounded in the liberal arts, and business is the most popular undergraduate major. The university has a high four-year graduation rate for its student profile. On the athletic front, the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers compete in the NCAA Division I Northeast Conference.
