University of Memphis Description:

Located about four miles east of downtown, the University of Memphis is the flagship research university in the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The park-like campus is a designated arboretum offering self-guided tours, and the red brick buildings are laid out in a Jeffersonian style similar to the University of Virginia. In academics, the University of Memphis has notable strengths in journalism, nursing, business, and education. The university has an active Greek system, and in athletics the Memphis Tigers compete in the NCAA Division I Conference USA.
