Maryville University is a private university located in Town and Country, Missouri, 22 miles from downtown St. Louis. The 130-acre campus features woods, hills, two small lakes, and lots of hiking trails. Founded in 1872 as a Catholic institution for women, today the university is coeducational with lay governance. The university takes pride in its challenging curriculum and the personal attention students receive thanks to its 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Students come from 29 states and 26 countries, with the majority of students coming from Missouri. On the athletic front, the Maryville Saints compete in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). Popular sports include golf, softball, lacrosse, track and field, swimming, basketball, and cross country.
