Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Description:

Lincoln University is a public liberal arts and sciences university located outside of Oxford in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Founded as a private institution in 1854, it was the first historically Black university in the country. The rural 422-acre campus is immersed in the rolling hills and woods of southeast Pennsylvania, 55 miles north of Baltimore and 45 miles outside of Philadelphia, where the university also has a satellite center for graduate studies. Lincoln has a student faculty ratio of 14 to 1 and strong academic offerings, with 23 undergraduate majors in areas of study including mass communication, biology and health, physical education and recreation. The Graduate Center in Philadelphia also offers master’s degrees in human services, education, reading and administration. Leadership development and extracurricular participation are encouraged at Lincoln, and students are involved in more than 50 clubs and organizations. The Lincoln Lions compete in the NCAA Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
