Holy Names University Description:

Founded in 1868, Holy Names University is a four-year, private, Roman Catholic university located in Oakland, California in the Bay area. The 60-acre campus supports a diverse student body of about 1,300, with a student/faculty ratio of 17 to 1 and an average class size of 10. U.S. News and World Report’s America’s Best Colleges has placed Holy Names as first in Campus Diversity for all universities in the West. Holy Names offers a wide variety of undergraduate, graduate, and degree-completion programs, including 19 bachelor’s and eight master’s degree programs. Nursing is particularly popular among undergraduates. Students are active outside of the classroom, and Holy Names is home to many student clubs, organizations, and intramural sports. The campus is also within an easy day trip of Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, and Monterey Bay. The HNU Hawks compete in the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference (PacWest) with twelve teams including men’s and women’s golf, cross country, and volleyball.
