Lamar University Description:

Lamar University's 270-acre campus is located in Beaumont, Texas, a city near the Louisiana border. Houston is 90 miles to the west. The main campus has a largely undergraduate focus, although the university offers several popular online master's programs in education. Among bachelor's degree students, business, communications, and engineering are all popular. High achieving students should look into the Honors Program; perks include smaller classes, interdisciplinary seminars, and various research opportunities. Students can choose from over 100 clubs and organizations including an active fraternity and sorority system. In athletics, the Lamar Cardinals compete in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. The university fields seven men's and seven women's intercollegiate teams.
