Keene State College (KSC) is a public liberal arts college located in Keene, New Hampshire, a town in the southwest corner of the state. Keene State was founded in 1909 as a school for teachers, and today education remains one of the most popular majors. Business, communication, and health fields are also heavily enrolled. Highly motivated students should look into Keene State's Honors Program with its enhanced curriculum and travel-study component. Academics are supported by an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Keene State students come from 28 states and 4 countries, with just over half coming from New Hampshire. Student life at Keene State is active with nearly 100 student clubs and organizations including several fraternities and sororities. On the Athletic front, the Keene State Owls compete in the NCAA Division III Little East Conference. The college fields seven men's and ten women's sports. Keene State College is a member of COPLAC, the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges.
