Houston Baptist University Admissions Overview:

Since the school has an acceptance rate of only 35%, it is considered selective. Students are encouraged to apply online, through Houston Baptist's website. Additional materials include a high school transcript and scores from either the SAT or ACT. There is no essay component of the application. The 100-acre campus of Houston Baptist University is located in Southwest Houston, Texas. The school is affiliated with the Baptist Church and describes itself as a Christian liberal arts university with a faith-based campus community. HBU prides itself on the meaningful interactions between students and their professors -- the university has a 13 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and 60% of classes have fewer than 20 students. No classes are taught by teaching assistants. Among undergraduates, biology and business are the most popular fields of study. On the athletic front, the Houston Baptist Huskies compete in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. Popular sports include football, soccer, basketball, track and field, and volleyball.
