Hartwick College Admissions Overview:

Students applying to Hartwick can apply using either the school's application, or the Common Application. Along with that application, students will need to submit a high school transcript, a personal essay, and letters of recommendation. SAT and/or ACT scores are optional (except for nursing students). Hartwick College traces its history back to 1797 when John Christopher Hartwick, a Lutheran minister, founded Hartwick Seminary near Cooperstown, New York. Today, Hartwick College is a nondenominational, four-year, private liberal arts college located in Oneonta, New York. The attractive 425-acre campus overlooks the Susquehanna River Valley. Hartwick students come from 30 states and 22 countries, and they can choose from 31 majors. The college takes pride in the interactions between faculty and students, a feature that is supported by an 11 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 18. Hartwick College has a well-regarded study abroad program, and the majority of students study overseas. Student life is active with over 70 clubs and organizations including sororities and fraternities. On the athletic front, the Hartwick Hawks compete in the NCAA Division III Empire 8 Athletic Conference for most sports. Men's soccer and women's water polo are Division I. The college fields eight men's and nine women's intercollegiate sports. Popular choices include football, basketball, soccer, swimming, track and field, and field hockey.
