Frostburg State University is a public university located on a 260-acre campus in Western Maryland's Appalachian highlands. The school is part of the University System of Maryland. Outdoor lovers will find lots of hiking, skiing, camping, and boating in the area. Frostburg State has an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and the great majority of classes have fewer than 30 students. Business administration is the most popular undergraduate major. High achieving students should look into the Honors Program for opportunities to collaborate with the faculty in both teaching and research. In athletics, the most teams of the Frostburg State Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division III Capital Athletic Conference. Football competes in the Empire 8 Conference.
