Located in Miami Gardens, Florida, Florida Memorial University is a four-year, private Baptist university and the only historically Black college in Southern Florida. St. Thomas University is just a few blocks away. Florida Memorial supports about 1,700 students with a student / faculty ratio of 16 to 1. The university offers 41 undergraduate degree programs and 4 master’s programs across the School of Business, School of Education, School of Arts and Sciences, and Department of Freshman Studies. Students stay engaged outside of the classroom, and Florida Memorial has a host of student clubs and organizations including the Comedy Club, Sapphire and Ice Dancers, and Aviation Club. FMU also has an active Greek Life on campus, and basketball as an intramural sport. Florida Memorial competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Sun Conference with sports that include men’s and women’s basketball, track and field, and soccer.
