Florida International University Description:

Florida International University, or FIU, is a public research university located in Miami. The university first opened its door to students in 1972, and since that time it has earned a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa for its strengths in the liberal arts and sciences. Florida International takes pride in the diversity of its student body and in the fact that the university educates a large number of socially and financially disadvantaged students. In athletics, the FIU Golden Panthers compete in the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference (soccer competes in Conference USA).
