Founded in 1865, Fairmont State University is a four-year public university located in Fairmont, West Virginia. FSU supports a student body of about 4,600 with a student / faculty ratio of 18 to 1 and an average class size of 21. The university offers over 80 bachelor’s degrees and three graduate degree programs through its six schools and colleges. Students will find plenty to do on the 120-acre FSU campus with more than 85 student clubs and organizations including the Student Graphics Club, Outdoor Adventure Club, and Ballroom Dancing Club. Many students also participate in the fraternity and sorority system as well as intramurals such as Horseshoes, Tug-O-War, and Texas Hold-Em. For intercollegiate athletics, FSU competes in the NCAA Division II Mountain East Conference (MEC) with sports that include men’s and women’s tennis, golf, and swimming.
