Eastern Kentucky University Admissions Overview:

With an acceptance rate of 86%, EKU is not highly selective. Around three out of every ten applicants will not be admitted. Students applying to EKU with grades and test scores above average have a better chance of being accepted. To be considered for admissions, students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must meet basic course requirements. To apply, interested students should send in an application, high school transcripts, and scores from the SAT or ACT.

Established in 1906, Eastern Kentucky University is a public university located in Richmond, Kentucky, a city of 33,000 residents situated 26 miles southeast of Lexington. The university offers 168 degree programs through its five colleges (Arts & Sciences, Business & Technology, Health Sciences, Education, and Justice & Safety); professional fields in business, health, and education are quite popular among undergraduates. They also offer degrees at the Masters and Doctoral levels; Education and Education Administration are the most common fields of study. EKU has a 17 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Students can apply to join the Honors Program; this programs offers advanced core courses, and students complete senior thesis projects at the end of their time at EKU. The university has over 150 student organizations, ranging from political clubs, music ensembles, religious groups, or athletic/sports teams. Students can also write for the campus paper, the Eastern Progress, which was founded back in 1922. There is also an active fraternity and sorority system. On the athletic front, the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels compete in the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference.
