Founded in 1955, Dordt College is a private four-year college associated with the Christian Reformed Church. The college's 115-acre campus is located in Sioux Center, Iowa, about an hour from Sioux City, Iowa, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Students come from over 30 states and 16 foreign countries. On the academic front, students can choose from over 40 majors and pre-professional programs. Education fields are most popular. Academics are supported by small classes and a 15 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Dordt defines its education as biblical and Christ-centered. The great majority of students live on campus, and campus life is active with dozens of clubs, organizations and activities. In athletics, the Dordt Defenders compete in the NAIA Great Plains Athletic Conference. The college fields eight men's and seven women's intercollegiate sports.
