Dominican University Description:

Dominican University is a comprehensive, Roman Catholic research university affiliated with the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters. The 30-acre campus is located in River Forest, Illinois, a residential suburban neighborhood just 10 miles west of downtown Chicago. Founded as St. Clara's College in 1848, it was renamed Rosary College in 1922. The present name was chosen in 1997, in order to reflect the school's origins. With small class sizes and a low student faculty ratio of 12 to 1, students can be assured of receiving individual attention from professors. Academically, undergraduate students have more than 50 areas of study to choose from; popular majors include business administration, psychology, accounting, and nutrition and dietetics. Dominican also offers several master’s and doctoral degrees through its graduate divisions of library and information science, business, education, social work, and professional and continuing studies. Dominican has a solid study abroad program, with programs in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America. The University works hard to make study abroad affordable for all interested students. Outside of class, students are active on campus in more than 30 academic, cultural, and special interest clubs and organizations. On the athletic front, the Dominican University Stars field 12 men’s and women’s athletic teams in the NCAA Division III Northern Athletics Conference.
