Davis & Elkins College is a four-year, private college located in Elkins, West Virginia. Elkins, a town of about 8,000, has a strong arts and music presence, with several music festivals throughout the year.Also called D&E, the college was founded in 1904 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. The small college supports its roughly 800 students with a healthy student/faculty ratio of 12 to 1. D&E offers a variety of bachelor’s, associates, and pre-professional programs across a host of academic subjects. These subjects include Accounting, Education, English, Nursing, and Criminology. Pre-professional programs include Pre-Dental, Pre-Law, and Pre-Veterinary studies. Students can also design their own major, by establishing interdisciplinary tracks.

For student involvement outside of the classroom, D&E is home to 35 student clubs and organizations including one national fraternity. There are several academic groups, athletic/recreation organizations, and fine art, music, and dance clubs. The Department of Fine and Performing Arts and the Augusta Heritage Center are a big part of campus life, bringing music and entertainment to D&E students. The center offers week-long (and longer) courses in such areas as Swing, Bluegrass, Irish, Cajun, and early American music. On the athletic front, the D&E Senators compete at the intercollegiate level in the NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) with sports including men’s and women’s swimming, tennis, and soccer.
