Students will generally need grades and test scores above average in order to be considered. As part of the application process, interested students will need to submit an application (through the school, or with the Common Application), SAT or ACT scores, and high school transcripts. Converse College Description:

Named after Dexter Edgar Converse (one of the college's founders and donors), Converse College first opened its doors in 1890 and has remained a well-regarded women's college throughout its history. Today the college has slightly more master's degree students than bachelor's degree students thanks to its thriving graduate education programs. At the undergraduate level, students can choose from over 35 majors, and adult women will find that the "Converse II" program is designed to meet their needs. For a small college, Converse has a surprising breadth of offerings through its three schools: the School of Arts (including the Petrie School of Music), the School of Humanities and Sciences, and the School of Education and Graduate Studies. Academics are supported by an impressive 10 to 1 student / faculty ratio.

Other notable features of Converse are excellent grant aid and a higher-than-expected graduation rate in relation to the average student profile. The tree-lined campus is located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Spartanburg has a population of over 30,000 people, and is a very active community, offering events and attractions throughout the year. Student life at Converse is active, and for the athletically inclined student, the Converse Valkyries compete in the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas. The college fields nine intercollegiate sports.
