Located in Golden, Colorado, the Colorado School of Mines is a public engineering school with a specialized focus on the earth's resources -- minerals, materials, energy and related fields. The school has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado. The university has a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 33.
