Colorado School of Mines Description:

Located in Golden, Colorado, the Colorado School of Mines is a public engineering school with a specialized focus on the earth's resources -- minerals, materials, energy and related fields. The school has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado. The university has a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 33. The Colorado School of Mines ranks well among national public universities, and its graduates with bachelor's degrees have average starting salaries that are among the highest of any public institution. In athletics, the Orediggers compete at the NCAA Division II level. Cycling has had a lot of success in recent years.
