Coker College Description:

Coker College is a private liberal arts college located in Hartsville, South Carolina. The attractive 15-acre campus features Georgian-style brick buildings, some of which appear on the National Register of Historic Places. Columbia, Charlotte, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach are all within a two-hour drive from campus. The college prides itself on the close interaction between students and their professors, a relationship that is fostered by a 10 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 12. The college's curriculum emphasizes hands-on, active learning, and students have the option of doing a research-intensive honors project. The college represents an excellent value -- tuition is less than most similar private colleges, and nearly all students receive grant aid of some sort. Coker students tend to be highly engaged in campus life. The college has more than 30 official student organizations. On the athletic front, the college has numerous intramural sports as well as 14 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Coker Cobras compete in the Conference Carolinas.
