Catawba College Admissions Overview:

With an acceptance rate of just 47%, Catawba is a somewhat selective school. Students are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores if they complete an extra-curricular resume and have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students who do not submit test scores also need to write a personal statement--possible topics are outlined on the school's admissions page. Required materials for admissions include an online application, high school transcripts, and a letter of recommendation. There is no application fee. Students are not required to complete an interview, but are encouraged to visit the campus and talk with an admissions officer to get a feel for the school.

Located in the city of Salisbury, North Carolina, Catawba College is a small private liberal arts college that also offers several popular pre-professional programs. Catawba College was founded in 1851 by the German Reformed Church, and today the school is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The college has a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and students can choose from over 40 fields of study. Popular majors for undergraduates include business, education, music, history, and sociology. Catawba offers a good educational value -- the great majority of students receive institutional grant aid. Outside of the classroom, students can join a number of clubs and organizations, ranging from honor societies, to performing arts groups, to academic clubs. In athletics, the Catawba Indians compete in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Conference. Popular sports include football, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and track and field.
