Bridgewater State University Description:
Bridgewater State University is a rapidly growing public university located in Southeastern Massachusetts midway between Boston and Cape Cod. The campus has its own MBTA commuter train station. Founded in 1840, the university was originally a normal school for training teachers. Today teaching remains a popular field of study, but the university offers over 90 undergraduate and graduate programs through five colleges. Psychology, criminal justice, and business are all popular at the undergraduate level. The school's name was changed from Bridgewater State College in 2010. For students interested in intercollegiate athletics, the Bridgewater State Bears compete in the NCAA Division III Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for most sports.
